Why You Should Be Investing In Yourself

How many times have you come across a workshop you would love to be in, find a tech tool or software that would level up your business or even an amazing new business book?

How many times have you not invested in those things simply because you don’t think you can spend that money on yourself?

I hear this time and time again from clients who could really benefit from some additional support and know they could use the educational boost but are hesitant to take action because they don’t think they’re worth it.

I get it, it’s scary investing in yourself. The short term investment in your time and money will pay off in dividends. So stop second guessing your worth and start taking action on the things that will grow your knowledge and your business.

Here are 3 easy ways to invest in yourself!

Upskill For You and Your Business

Being a business owner, you’re running the whole show. You’re the director, producer, the lighting tech, the sound tech, and the talent.

It’s unrealistic to think you are going to be able to successfully be in all of those roles at the same time. You may be an expert in a few of those areas but maybe not the others.

Figure out where your gaps are and fill them.

Get training from experts in their field, whether that’s from business coaches, experts in systems and processes, experts in social media, you name it.

These days, upskilling doesn’t need to cost you an arm and a leg. There are a myriad of online courses, workshops and even free university modules readily available.

If it’s social media that’s tripping you up, you’re in luck because there are literally hundreds of cost effective courses online via www.udemy.com.

Education doesn’t have to be expensive, and it’s just a click away. There’s an option for everyone.

And, if you feel that you don’t have the time or desire to take on learning something new, outsource it!

Increase Creativity

How many times have you stumbled across an event with a speaker you’re so excited to see or been invited to a workshop with like minded business owners?

And… How many times have you actually booked tickets?

Here’s the thing, surrounding yourself with people who get you and your business will automatically shift your mindset.

Book those tickets. Go to the event, the workshop, the meet up, whatever it may be.

Booking an event that will benefit your business is a fabulous idea. Alternatively, book a class that has absolutely nothing to do with your business.

I know it sounds contradictory, but you need to fill your own cup to get that creativity flowing!

Prioritise Your Health & Wellbeing

I know it seems like it should be your number one priority, but let’s face it – juggling your business and family life, it’s easy to let your health and wellbeing slip.

A few ways to help you take care of your health and wellbeing are:

  • Regular Exercise – Do some form of exercise everyday. Make an effort to go for a walk, a bike ride with the kids or attend a yoga class. Schedule it in your diary so you can’t cancel. Remember, this is a gift to yourself.
  • Eat a Balanced Diet – unfortunately we cant run off coffee alone. If you don’t have time to shop, get your food delivered. If you don’t have time to cook, stock up on nutritious ready made meals.
  • Affirmations – remember, what you say to yourself matters.
